The final week of South Carolina's 2010 State Duals is upon us.
While many prepare for the Super Bowl festivities today,
8 teams across S.C. - each in 4A, 3A and 2A - continue to
prepare for Monday's Quarter-Finals of the State Duals.
Chesterfield and Bamberg-Ehrhardt each won the 1A Upper State
and 1A Lower State respectfully yesterday.
Last year, exactly to the day, we ran our first coverage of the
History of the S.C. State Duals. Due to the 3A "pigtail rounds" in the
1995-1997 tournaments we made a few adjustments for teams/coaches since then.
A few more matches from the 1997 "pigtail round" are still being researched
so hopefully by next season we will have the complete accurate history of
all wins and losses. It does not appear like these few missing matches in 1997
have any impact on the leaders listed below atop the State Duals Recordbook.
For historical sake, here is when each classification decided to award the State title through a Dual
tournament format. Over the years, a number of teams have jumped between classifications, so we have
sorted the categories below by all classifications instead of splitting every classification up.
For historical sake ...
4A - In 1993, the S.C. wrestling state title in 4A was recognized through the State Duals format
3A - In 1994, the S.C. wrestling state title in 3A was recognized through the State Duals format
2A-1A - In 2001, the S.C. wrestling state title in 2A-1A was recognized through the State Duals format
1A - In 2007, the S.C. wrestling state title in 1A was recognized through the State Duals format
